Because of my finite understanding and self-centered focus, I cannot make the best decisions. I need to rely on the input of the all-knowing God who loves me.

Ever Closer Episode 198: Reflection for Week 33

Let God’s Spirit at work in you give you fresh eyes to see where he is at work saving people. Then listen and follow through with how he would have you participate in that ministry. Our scripture focus this week is from 1 Corinthians 9:22, “To the weak I became weak, that I might gain the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I may by all means save some.”

Here are a few thoughts to reflect on:

1. The apostle Paul became “all things to all people” to reach them with God’s love. In what ways might you need to adapt your approach, language, or cultural preferences to effectively share Christ’s love with someone different from you? What personal comfort or preference might God be asking you to set aside to connect with others?

2. “Forest from Trees” reminds us of our limited perspective compared to God’s all-knowing love. What do you find difficult in reaching people who are different than you? How does knowing that God can and does want to save them change your understanding or response?

3. The song “Infinite Canvas” describes God painting his glory in nature and transforming lives into his likeness. Where do you see God’s artistry at work in cultures or communities different from your own? How might expanding your vision of God’s global work challenge your assumptions about how God operates?
