In writing I have tried to be genuine, humble, and open to listening and learning from God. I also try to put the advice into practice by God’s grace and power. As a reader I hope you approach these notes the same way. I pray they bless you and inspire you to become all God has designed for you to be and to do for his glory. He believes in you and wants the best for you. So do I. The most valuable gift I can give is to build you and others up and to help you draw near to God through Jesus. In time I hope God becomes your closest friend, your brightest future, and your deepest love.
Your friend and teacher,
Greenelsh

100 Love Unusually
Happy Valentine's Day. Today I shared with my high school students that to love and be loved is the most blessed adventure they can experience. On this holiday many of them typically think only of romance as if that is all there is to love. I challenged them to go...
099 Don’t Lose Sight
Last night around the dinner table my family was reminiscing about an annual high school fundraiser for drug awareness that my oldest daughter attended. Its beginnings were beneficial, but over time it lost its purpose and just became a social party. We see examples...
098 Make Peace
A few days ago while driving home from work I was reminded how important it is to seek peace with those around us. A car had turned and merged into my lane in front of me. On the back window of the car was written a memorial to a young man who only lived 17 years. I...
097 Depend When Descending
While exercising this morning I ran into a truth which may be encouraging to you. I was literally running, which isn't my favorite fitness activity, but I include it to balance my exercising and to stay mentally tough. The challenging part is 100 meter wind sprints up...

095 Lay Down Your Life
Merry Christmas. What a blessing it is to celebrate the birth of Jesus today just as it was for the shepherds to whom the angels appeared centuries ago. They proclaimed, "'I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this...
094 Worship the Right God
A student told me she believes in God, but not how some people do. I asked her some questions to try and understand her meaning. She felt that some people use the wrong name for God, some talk about God as being three but not one, and still others pick and choose what...
093 Walk with Purpose
After our recent trip to Yosemite I was inspired to revisit a poem I wrote a while back, but never felt was quite finished. It reminds me of the importance of denying myself in favor of seeking people out as God leads and sharing his love and salvation with them. As I...
092 Enter In
Happy Thanksgiving. We are in San Diego enjoying time with my wife’s side of the family. We just ran an informal turkey trot (in the rain) along the shore of Lake Murray and now we are preparing for a large group coming together for food and fellowship. Thanksgiving...
