After our recent trip to Yosemite I was inspired to revisit a poem I wrote a while back, but never felt was quite finished. It reminds me of the importance of denying myself in favor of seeking people out as God leads and sharing his love and salvation with them.

As I walk among the trees,
They embrace me in their fold.
I rest in the cradle hold
Of their sheltering wings.
A chorus of truth sings in the breeze
Of man and leaves and their gold.
Shared by both is brotherhood.
Spring brings to life the leaves.
Through summer they drink the sun
Giving life to limbs of old.
Fall yields a change in tone
Marking a worthy cease
To the breath of each one
As it surrenders to the cold of winter.
In each season a leaf has a role.
People do too with each dance of the sun
We’re called to give up our pride
And yield to God’s Son.
Then as we follow him in love for all
We reach people with his saving call.
