As you face your everyday routine don’t lose sight of the forest from the trees. See the grander purpose in your life, which is to find your completeness in Christ.

Fix your eyes on Jesus and let go of anything or anyone that gets in the way of that. Let him lead and empower you to do what you do each day. G.K. Chesterson, a 19th century English poet, once said, “Things must be loved first and improved afterwards.” As we behold Jesus we become the best he designed us to be. As we see how beautifully and wonderfully he loves us then we improve and become like him so we can serve others through his power at work in changing us. Without him we can do nothing of lasting value.

You might have some winsome qualities that make you attractive, engaging, creative, and fun to be around. But these typically fade with time. Your true beauty runs deeper than that. True character is like a well rather than a pond. It draws from an unending source and doesn’t dry up over the seasons of life. You are special because of your heart. Strengthen and guard it. Don’t let it weaken. Incline your heart toward God.

Let him develop in you love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, self-control, humility, and faithfulness. Those make you truly beautiful and benefit others the most. God uses ordinary people for extraordinary things. He has much in store for you. Walk with him step-by-step trusting and obeying in faith and he will gloriously reveal himself and his awesome plan.
