It’s hard to realize 2017 is nearly over. Wow, it’s been quite a year, hasn’t it?

As we enter a new year I encourage you to keep growing as a child of Christ. I have written to you much about following Jesus for I am convinced he is your best life and the brightest future for you. Where do you stand with God? Do you enjoy learning more about God? That’s a great start. Build on that this coming year.

You are a role model for those around you. Friendships are a tremendous blessing, but they also come with responsibility. Fortunately, you can enjoy the blessing and carry out the responsibilities without feeling burdened. If you let him God will help you help others through discernment, speaking wisely, and acting rightly.

Open up and submit to him in areas where you may have closed him off. If you worry about finances or the future, let God calm your fears. If you feel hurt, let God comfort and heal. If you are unforgiving toward others, let God teach you to forgive (You don’t have to reconcile, but you need to forgive). If you are unsure how to parent, let God guide you through his Word. If you are in an unhealthy relationship or one that dishonors God. Stop. Let God show you how to build a pure and thriving relationship. If you find God dull and aloof, let him ignite your senses and share the joyful intimacy of his presence.

You might be the only light of Jesus that people see. Reflect his love and greatness. Don’t deliberately disobey him. Don’t compromise because of comfort, convenience, security, or stubbornness. Shine brilliantly. I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have and help you further explore what it means to follow Jesus. You’ll only make it if you make Jesus your foundation. Building your life on your own terms and resources, not only causes a collapse, but it lacks the beauty, purpose, joy, and abundance only God provides.

God has great things in store for you this coming year if you pursue him! Include him in all you do. Ask him to teach you, to refine you, to mature you, to strengthen you, and to help you live each day where your greatest pleasure is to please him.
