In writing I have tried to be genuine, humble, and open to listening and learning from God. I also try to put the advice into practice by God’s grace and power. As a reader I hope you approach these notes the same way. I pray they bless you and inspire you to become all God has designed for you to be and to do for his glory. He believes in you and wants the best for you. So do I. The most valuable gift I can give is to build you and others up and to help you draw near to God through Jesus. In time I hope God becomes your closest friend, your brightest future, and your deepest love.
Your friend and teacher,
Greenelsh
081 Live by Faith as Strong Families Do
I hope your summer is going well. I spent the last week in Wyoming visiting family. We hiked, day camped, swam, roasted smores, disc golfed, thrift shopped, played games, went to a museum, and just hung out. My older brother and his family have been there several...
080 Be Content in God
I saw this cute little guy at the small local zoo a couple of days ago. There were actually three red pandas munching on lunch and relaxing in the afternoon shade. The tiger and bearcat seemed restless and probably long for a larger, freer domain. A day later that was...
079 Prepare for Life
Another school year has ended. It was a busy one full of challenges, new ways of doing things, fun times building relationships, and preparing students for life beyond high school. Remember those days? Graduation once again was a bittersweet time to say goodbye and...
078 Meditate on God
There are less than ten days of school left this year. It's quickly coming to a close, but I am glad for Memorial Day and the chance to stop and appreciate what others (especially Jesus) have sacrificed so I could be free. Stopping and appreciating aligns with the...
077 Value Testing
I've been recovering from a cold that just seems to linger. I'm just about over it which is a great relief. This weekend my son had a Boy Scout Camporee in Atascadero where several troops camp out and compete in throwing tomahawks (not at each other :-), rope rescue,...
076 Work as God Works
I've been preparing a lesson to teach the 4-6 graders at church. It seems like several of my recent notes have a common theme: recognizing the love and greatness of God and then responding to it with trust and obedience. Since I don't know what is going on with you, I...
075 Walk This Way
My son turned 13 a few weeks ago and we had a blast running around town on a wacky scavenger hunt. Well, today my daughter turned 16. She's a sweetheart, just like her older sister. It's a blessing to see her growing into a fine woman of God. The best of childhood and...
074 Become Stronger in Love
Hopefully you get a chance this Valentine’s Day to reflect on God’s love for you. I don’t know if it has made much difference, but in a limited way I have tried to share that love with you. Even now God shows you his love in many ways each day as he provides for and...
073 Plunge into the River
We’ve gotten a lot of rain this year. My wife enjoys the water. She swims a couple times a week at the community pool just down the street. Today we have so much rain that she could practically swim down the street instead. Some people don't like the rain because they...
072 Find God Faithful in Choppy Waters
Have you ever gone sailing or water skiing? On a breezy, sunny day smoothly gliding across calm water can be exhilarating. But when the water is choppy your body can take a beating fighting the waves and the biting cold. This new year is off to a choppy start for us....
