Last week I backpacked for a few days up in the Sierra Nevadas with my wife, daughter, and son. This was different than last year’s hike to Island Lake, but just as beautiful. We all enjoyed it, except for the elevation gain and relentless mosquitoes.
It’s always good to take a break from our routine, rest from work, and spend quiet time reflecting or praying. Have you been able to take a break? If we are open and listening, God uses that time to refresh us, heal us, realign our thinking, speak to us, and prepare us for what he has next. Brisk, peaceful mountain mornings watching the sunrise over a serene lake during a cup of cocoa reminded me of Psalm 121, “I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” I don’t know all he has in store for this fall at school and in life, but I know I will need his help to carry it out in order to grow and best benefit others.
Today our students returned for the first day of school. It went well and they seem like a pretty good group. I look forward to serving them. What are you looking forward to God helping you with?
