Hopefully you get a chance this Valentine’s Day to reflect on God’s love for you. I don’t know if it has made much difference, but in a limited way I have tried to share that love with you. Even now God shows you his love in many ways each day as he provides for and protects you. Can you see examples of that? He can’t help but love you fully all the time. That is who he is. God is love.

Sometimes that love is the nurturing love like a mother and sometimes it is the tough love like a father who is training you and disciplining you to die to yourself and become like Jesus. He accepts you the way you are, but he loves you too much to leave you that way.

To experience the fullness of God’s love requires action on our part. We must intentionally seek God out and desire to develop a relationship with him by learning from his word, talking with him, listening to him, thanking him, trusting and obeying, sharing what we learn with others, and serving alongside other believers to help those around us. He calls everyone, but only a few answer. What is your response to God? Do you feel like you are growing closer to God each week, each month, or each year?

I hope your Valentine’s Day is special as you delight in God’s love for you. In response hopefully you love him more and more. I’ll end with this prayer from the Bible which I pray for those God is calling to himself.
“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:16-19).
